Activities for Chapter 12 - Lennon's response

1. Ask two friends to read the draft of your literature review and comment on the content. Compare their comments.

  • On which points did your friends agree?
    • The format was agreed upon - the use of titles or descriptions to help with transitions
    • The APA format of the titles needed to be adjusted
    • The title at the beginning may need to be labeled as the "Introduction"
    • Good use of continuous sources
  • On which points did they disagree?  Which of the two opinions will you follow? Why?
    • Disagreed on the levels for APA format.
    • I will select the opinion that emulates exactly what the book and previous notes from instructors have made on previous paper.
    • I will select that method so that the APA format will be correct.
  • Consider the places in your review that your friends found hard to follow.  Rewrite these passages, keeping in mind that you want your friends to understand your points
    • This was not difficult because Galvan (2014) describes the relationship between the reader and the writer and the importance of ensuring that the reader can follow the intended meaning of the writer wrote and to accept constructive criticism.
2. Write five questions designed to guide your instructor or your friends in giving you feedback on the content of your review.

5 - QUESTIONS
  1. Did you find any portion(s) of the reading difficult to follow or in need of clarification, if so which portion?
  2. What did you find to be a strength within the reading?
  3. What improvements would you suggest?
  4. Are there any portions you found to be irrelevant or possibly needing to be removed, if so which portion?
  5. Are all of the sources adequately cited?
  • Reconsider the five questions you wrote for your instructor or your friends.  Which questions would you leave on your list?  What questions would you add?
    • I would leave Question #1(this would allow me to proof all portions of the paper), Question #4 (I would want to make sure all portions are logical and relevant as requested on the rubric), and Question #5 (because APA seems to be the major factor in terms of "Turn it-in" - to avoid plagiarsm and to make sure sources are cited correctly)
    • I would add: Question #6 - Are all formats followed within APA style (numbering, titles, and spacing)?
